Physical and web archive of video and new media art DIVA Station each year marks the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage – 27th of October, pronounced for the first time in 2005 by UNESCO. Our goal is to emphasize the meaning of archives and audiovisual material as an important part of cultural heritage.

This year we are joined at the celebration by the Slovenian Cinematheque and centre for art and media Argos from Brussels. We dedicate this celebration to a dialogue between newer and older video creations and to connecting DIVA station with the Argos archive from Brussels.

We will present the new video programme Fresh Perspective (selection by Vesna Bukovec/DIVA station) and host Belgian video art (selection by Sofie Ruysseveldt, Andrea Cinel/Argos). At the screenings the curators will present the selected video works with Q&A at the very end.

Wikipedia is a popular and highly-visited free and collaborative internet encyclopaedia which provides the possibility to gather information on a variety of topics, including those which are neglected or completely ignored. The project Rewriting Wikipedia showed a shortage of contributions on many important women artists, scientists, politicians and other well-known female public figures. The same is true for the Slovenian Wikipedia.

A project of two-day intensive complementing of the Slovenian Wikipedia has already been realised twice (2013 and 2014) on the initiative of the artist Ana Čigon.

Feminist WikiMarathon 2016 is dedicated to writing contributions on the Slovenian women artists that participated at the International Festival of Contemporary Arts City of Women from its inception in 1995 up to today.

We invite to participate in complementing the Slovenian Wikipedia all female writers and experts on different artists that participated at the International Festival of Contemporary Arts City of Women. Join us on the 11th and/or 16th of October 2016 either in person or virtually.

You will be able to learn writing in Wikipedia at the event held at Škuc Gallery though we suggest you write the contribution and find written sources, required by Wikipedia, beforehand. Those not versed in writing Wikipedia are also invited - it won’t take you long to learn. Detailed information on the event and ways to join us is available further down and in the Wiki page of the event.

If you can’t attend our meeting, you can still participate in the project – communicate that you wish to participate virtually and send the contribution you are working on. Write to wikimaraton2013@gmail.com for all additonal questions.

C/U - Body Mind Festival, Warsaw
Via Negativa

Via Negativa - The Ninth

C/U Festival gives a broad audience the opportunity to witness new dance movements and ideas, does away with standard creative solutions, and opens it up to experiments. It shows dance as a thought-provoking form of art, combining matter (body) with ideas (mind) and enabling new possibilities of presenting modern art.

The C/U Festival was at first organized biennially but since 2008 it has become an annual event, that takes place in the second half of September. The foundation treats the festival not only as an international stage, but also as an event dedicated to the city, in which no theater or stage focuses solely on the art of contemporary dance. Since Warsaw lacks a place for regular exhibitions of new ideas and variety of dance forms, the festival aims to strengthen this art form and help other institutions dealing with various forms of contemporary art.
