Phoney Towns is a long runing project that is presented in different variations depending on the gallery space, town in which it is presented. Part of this project and development is also the experimental film Phoney Sights. In the set-up of the Phony Towns II video installation the viewer travels between different geopolitical spaces, digitally manipulated landscapes. In the accompanying photographies and texts the topic of discussion shifts to local cultural-political issues in the city of Maribor.
"Phony Towns II humorously deals with the alarming condition of our contemporary society, which, due to capitalist appetites and an uncontrolled desire for power by the ruling elites, is permeated by an erosion of humanist values and collective consciousness, the rise of political populism and structural violence, dehumanization of interpersonal relationships and the impoverishment of the most vulnerable social groups."
